Town Council Update

Feb. 5 Council update: Site Development Plan for new Terrain neighborhood approved; construction contract for Service Center addition moves forward

An update on the Town’s residential unit data through December 2018 was presented to Town Council at Tuesday’s meeting. The data outlined the maximum zoning entitlements and growth areas approved by Council and provided an update on the pace of activity in each area of Town. The current estimate shows Castle Rock’s population at approximately 68,700 people.

Here’s a look at a few other item Council discussed Tuesday:

  • Resolution approving the Site Development Plan for a new Terrain residential neighborhood moves forward – Town Council approved a proposal for a new development in the Terrain neighborhood near State Highway 86 and North Ridge Road. Plans for the more than 56-acre development include 261 single-family homes – both detached and attached – additional open space, a pocket park and a trail system.

  • Construction contract for an addition to the Town’s Public Works Service Center approved – Town Council finalized a contract with Mark Young Construction Inc. for the construction of the Public Works Service Center addition/renovation. This long-planned project will add additional space to the Service Center at 4175 N. Castleton Court which was originally constructed in 1996.

The project includes the renovation of existing office space, to eliminate the need for trailers, and will provide more space for maintaining the vehicles that help the Town deliver services to the community – including snowplows, police vehicles and fire trucks. The $4.2 million project will be funded with impact fees paid by developers.
