Transportation Master Plan

Council visualizes the future of transportation, approves master plan

Your Town thinks ahead. When it comes to transportation, our plan for the future is visualized in the Transportation Master Plan.

Think beyond roads. This document outlines plans for all aspects of our transportation system over the next two decades – including bicycle routes, pedestrian links, road construction projects and more. The plan was last updated in 2011, and a lot has changed.

Town Council approval

Town Council approved the plan during its meeting Tuesday, Oct. 3. Now, it becomes the official guide for Town projects and planning.

Background
Community feedback

In fall 2016, the Town gathered feedback regarding our transportation system. That feedback – along with research and analysis – led to a proposed list of roadway, pedestrian and bicycle projects along with ideas for managing demand on the road for the next five, 10 and 20 years.

During April, we gathered feedback on that list. Then, you told us what you thought about the draft plan. Thank you!

Transit

In 2005, Castle Rock voters opted out of the Regional Transportation District (RTD) and related taxes. Transit will be part of the conversation looking ahead to 2040 in addition to regional conversations with Douglas County and the Colorado Department of Transportation.

Downtown Parking

As the Town grows, it’s also important to study parking. A separate study is underway
